Main activities with youth

Literacy courses for all ages, with the youth often being the most active participants in this activity.

Workshops targeting unemployed youth, particularly those with literacy challenges, to equip them with new skills that support their lives. Examples include doll-making (crochet), confectionery and baking, and organising food supplies.

Support centres for children to strengthen their basic education.

    Their story

The Alphabet Alternative Education program began as a project initiated by a group of individuals deeply affected by the lives of people living in Informal settlements in the Bekaa Valley. Initially, they gathered donations such as clothes, blankets, firewood, and other urgently needed essentials. They had the idea to build a large tent that would be constantly heated and open for children to play or rest in whenever they wanted. This tent would later become the first of 10 Alphabet Tents Schools.

    Constituency

Youth of various nationalities, aged between 20 and 35 years old.

They meet young people at their own centre or in a public outdoor location (such as a street, park, etc.).

    Current management

The management consists of individuals, including the director and the Bekaa coordinator, aged between 40 and 50, who organise activities and present them to the centres (educational, recreational, events, etc.). They oversee the leadership of young teachers and trainers deployed in these centres, emphasising a significant role for youth alongside older participants.

    Use of digital tools

The association uses social media platforms to showcase its achievements, as well as to present its activities and areas of operation on its website. It facilitates communication among trainers and teachers through WhatsApp
