- Identifying and nurturing hidden talents within Informal settlements and impoverished neighbourhoods.
- Ensuring the success and visibility of talented individuals by providing platforms for their voices to be heard.
- Organizing creative workshops, activities, and festivals to foster talent and creativity in children.
Main activities with youth
The centre organises a range of artistic, educational, and relief activities. Its main project, The Talent Sponsorship Project, aims to give Syrian refugees (7-17 years old) a haven where they are free to express themselves through art, sports, acting, inventions, and music.
Their story
Ebdaa Center was established to showcase children’s talents in Syrian Informal settlements in Lebanon and impoverished neighbourhoods. The initiative was inspired by a question posed during youth activities in a small camp in Bar Elias: “Why isn’t your impact greater?” This reflection led young founders to create a centre that would amplify their impact and highlight the results of their efforts. Located in the neighbourhood of Bar Elias, the centre continues to focus on empowering children and providing them with opportunities to develop and display their talents.
Constituency
From all age groups and nationalities, their roles are distributed across the organisation, organising and participating in community activities.
They meet young people in their centre and public outdoor spaces such as streets, parks, and gardens.
Current management
The Ebdaa Centre operates on the principle of collaboration, with no single leader or manager. Decision-making is participatory and based on a shared vision of what’s best. It is initiated by the centre’s team, which is the youth, and this forms the basis for task management and division. The active participants are primarily youth aged between 16 and 35. There are no restrictions based on nationality, although most are Syrian.
Use of digital tools
They use digital tools such as Instagram and their website to showcase their activities and achievements. They utilize a donation platform to secure funding for their projects and activities. WhatsApp is used for communication between centre members and the parents of the children.
