Mission and objectives

1. Promoting a society based on human rights, social justice, solidarity, and equality.
2. Providing opportunities for skill development aligned with citizens’ needs and capabilities.
3. Supporting active participation in local, regional, and international decision-making to foster equitable social and economic development.
4. Advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring access to healthcare, education, employment, and socio-economic integration.
5. Fostering inclusion and addressing disability issues as part of human rights.
6. Implementing community development projects focused on rehabilitation, education, and vocational integration to enhance social participation.

Their story

The Lebanese Union for People with Disabilities (LUPD) was founded during the Lebanese Civil War by individuals with disabilities as a grassroots and non-sectarian organization. Its mission is to advocate for the inclusion, equality, and rights of people with disabilities in Lebanese society. LUPD has worked to shift government policies and public discourse from a charity-based framework to one focused on rights and inclusion. Today, with 1,200 members and eight branches across Lebanon, the organization continues its efforts to achieve full inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities in every part of Lebanese society.

Constituency

The youth come from various nationalities and are beneficiaries and volunteers.

They meet young people at their own centre or in a public outdoor location (such, a street, park, etc.).
