Mission and objectives

Pemuda Penggerak’s work on child protection and issues related to smoking and sugar-rich drinks, as well as the marginalisation of ethnic minorities.

Main activities with youth

Activities include online/media campaigns, government lobby, and monitoring government policy through citizen science data collection on cigarette buds in smoke-free areas.

Their story

A group of young people who were part of the government-facilitated child forum.

Constituency

Their work is developed online, in public places, and through face-to-face exchanges with government officers.

Current management

Pemuda Penggerak has 23 voluntary members, aged 18-30, with a more female proportion. They have diverse backgrounds and occupations, such as politics, psychology, literature, chemical engineering, and industrial engineering.

Use of digital tools

Very active on social media, running campaigns which gives them legitimacy and access to decision-makers. They also have an app to report violation of the smoking ban law directly to government.
