Mission and objectives
PMKRI focuses on social, political, educational, and cultural issues that benefit marginalized communities. It aims to actively participate in student movements with a critical direction based on Catholicism.
Main activities with youth
PMKRI has discussion activities, internal training for capacity building, diversity activities, and establishing cooperation with other stakeholders (other student organisations, city government or agencies). They participate in the student movement in Solo. They conduct social, political, religious, and humanitarian activities. PMKRI has a cadre level, MPAB (Masa Penerimaan Anggota Baru); MABIM (Masa Bimbingan); LKK (Latihan Kepemimpinan Kader); KSR (Konferensi Trudi Regional) organised by PMKRI region oleh KOMDA; KSN (Konferensi Studi Nasional) organised by PMKRI central.
Their story
PMKRI was established on 25 May 1947 in Yogyakarta as an effort to unite Catholic student organizations, such as St. Bellamirnus Batavia (Jakarta), St. Thomas Aquinas (Bandung), and St. Lucas (Surabaya). This unification is an effort to form a large Catholic student organization that exists at the national level and has various branches in Indonesia.
Constituency
PMKRI’s target members are young Catholic students throughout Indonesia.
Current management
PMKRI has bylaws as guidelines for regulating the organization. Every member and board must comply with the bylaws. Decision-making is through deliberation. There is management at the regional and national levels.
