Mission and objectives

Sungai Watch is an environmental organisation on a mission to stop plastic from entering the ocean.

Main activities with youth

Their daily activities include cleaning up every barrier. They also organise emergency clean-ups at illegal dumpsites and along riverbanks to prevent plastic from entering rivers and work to enforce proper waste management at the local level. They sort every piece of trash until innovating ways to recycle low-value plastics. They regularly host educational events and clean-ups with local schools and invite local businesses, government, and social groups to our clean-ups to try and curb plastic pollution locally. They also get help from volunteers of various ages.

Their story

Founded in 2020 by Gary, Kelly, and Sam Bencheghib in Bali, Indonesia, Sungai Watch is a registered charity, both as a Yayasan in Indonesia and a 501(c)3 in the United States. It is also a certified One Percent for the Planet Environmental Partner.

Constituency

People of all ages.

Founder and a team of 100+ passionate river warriors, working daily to create solutions to stop the flow of plastic pollution from going into the ocean.
