Mission and objectives

Films are used as a medium to support people seeking solutions in their daily lives. Movies produced are raising grassroots issues.

Main activities with youth

Documentary film production and workshops.

Their story

Started from some filmmakers (camera person, distributors, musicians, directors, producers, etc., from the movie ecosystem). Throughout the Festival, Film Merdeka, which began in 2017, created a concept of ‘layar tancap keliling kampung’ (means guerilla outdoor cinema/mobile cinema, refers to its installation where people watch movies on a big screen made out of cloth stuck on two bamboo poles embedded into the ground, while the cinema itself mobilising around the neighbourhood). This is done to meet people and young people of Karang Taruna (a youth organisation at the neighbourhood level). Reading the situation in Solo in 2017, which was tense (terrorism, religious doctrines, hatred), and trying to counter those negative issues.

Constituency

Engaging young people to become volunteers and foundation board. Teenagers are the target participants.

Current management

There is a clear board structure, director and head of each division.
